One Sunday afternoon when I was minding my own business, happily waxing the Blowhorn bottle tops, my Sonos clicked through to the next show on the Boat Pod. It hit me from the word go, fantastic energy, passionate hosts, two musicians together clearly enjoying themselves. A couple, The Shejay & Exhibit69 (together officialEcstasy) hosted the show with a lot of love and the volume went up to the maximum, so much so that my kitchen was on vibrate. A wide-ranging two hours, touching on everything from classic UKG, to soul, to ABBA to Prince, a mix rarely heard and it all worked. But who are they?
Exhibit69, AKA Mark Anthony was London born in 1980 before spending his formative years in the USA where he was exposed to art and culture through his parents gallery. He returned to the UK during adolescence where graffiti became his main outlet. He started painting in the early 2000’s and has continued ever since. His works can be found at www.officialecstasy.com, www.jealousgallery.com and two new prints are being released on Friday 13th December, worth checking out.
The Shejay started out as an MC in Milton Keynes in the good old garage days under the moniker MC1E at the tender age of 17 and has seemingly gone from strength to strength since, performing with some of the biggest names in the business but always challenging herself with creativity. She is a DJ, Radio Host, Producer, Designer, Web Builder (need we go on?). She is releasing some of her first ever music, also on Friday 13th December on all streaming platforms.
I’ve since sought out more of their radio shows and eagerly await more and more. We’re hoping to meet them soon at their studio in Tower Bridge but will follow them closely to watch true creatives at work and see what they continue to come up with.
Much Love
G & J
